أن تكون الخيانة الزوجية موضوعاً روائياً فهذا أمر نقع عليه في روايات كثيرة. أما أن يطرح الموضوع من منظور مختلف عما هو سائد في مجتمع شرقي، فهذا أمر نادر الحصول، هذا ما تضمنه رواية الكاتبة اللبنانية "مهى جرجور" محاولة استعادة مكانة المرأة التي صادرتها منها الحياة بفعل الواجب قروناُ، ولكن ماذا تكون النتيجة في حال كهذه. في هذا العمل تطرح الروائية إشكالية الخيانة الزوجية بعد مضي عشرون عاماً على زواج بدأ يتعثر بفعل إنشغال الزوج بأعماله، والمرأة وإحساسها بالفراغ العاطفي. حيث تتوغل الكاتبة في أعماق الشخصية الإنسانية الذكورية والأنثوية ورغباتهما، في ظل المتغيرات الأخلاقية والتحولان التي أثرت سلباً في المفاهيم الإجتماعية للمجتمعات العربية.
تروي الكاتبة قصة عائلة مؤلفة من أب "هاني" وأم "رنا" وثلاثة أولاد، بقيت هذه العائلة مثال العائلة المنسجمة والناجحة إلى أن قررت "رنا" الدخول في تجربة صغيرة لتبعد عنها الملل، "لكن تجربتها لم تمر بهدوء، بل دفعتها إلى حضن تجربة أخرى، ثم اكتشافها، وأدخلت الزوج في تجربة يخشى كل رجل الدخول منها، كما ادخلت كل واحد من أولادها بتجربة أصعب من الأخرى من دون أن يعترفوا ذنباً، في سلسلة من الأفعال التي تجرب دون تخطيط مسبق، وسلسلة من ردود الفعل العنيفة حيناً والمتوترة حيناً آخر، قالبة الأدوار، معالجة الموضوع بعكس ما هو متعارف عليه اجتماعياً...".
رواية جريئة في طرحها، وفي طريقة معالجتها، تقدم الأسرة العصرية بصورة شفافة تعمدت الروائية تمزيق أحجبتها وتعريتها، لتجيب عن تساؤلات الذات البشرية ورغباتها الدفينة التي قد تظهر على السطح من مرحلة متأخرة، تدفع الأسرة بكل أفرادها ثمناً لها، كما في رواية "دخلت في التجربة".
