تحت عنوان (لن ننهض إلا بالتسامح) يعتبر المؤلف "... أن السبيل إلى النهضة لا يتحقق إلا بشروط من أهمها (التسامح) بين كل أفراد المجتمع للخروج من نفق الكره والتباغض (...) وإن معرفة الخلل الذي في أنفسنا وفي المجتمع دليل على نجاحنا الجزئي والذي لا يكتمل إلا بمحاولتنا الجادة لتصحيحه، (...) إنني أدعو كل من يقرأ كتابي هذا أن يحاول من اليوم الأول أن يسامح ويعفو ويتسامح مع أفراد مجتمعه، لكن ليس على حساب قضية أو مبدأ أو دين، وإنما تكن مسامحته على حساب نفسه وأن لا يكون بها ضرر، فأنت وأنا وهو كلنا سنُردّ إلى تراب لا يُسقى بماء وحساب بعد ذلك لا ندري، أجنّة الخلد الذي كنا لها نعمل أو نار تكوى بها جلودنا وأجسامنا إلى قيام الساعة...".
هذا، وقد قسم الكاتب عمله إلى أربعة أبواب تناول الأول منها مفهوم التسامح ونطاقات وانعكاسات التسامح على الفرد وعلى المجتمع، بينما تناول الثاني التسامح بوصفه سبيلاً للنهضة، والفرق بين التسامح والتعصب، وخصص الثالث لثورات الربيع العربي ألقى فيه الأضواء على حالة مصر وليبيا وسوريا، ويأتي الباب الرابع والأخير دعوة للتسامح وللمشاركة باليوم العالمي للتسامح.
