لا يمكنني أن أنكر أن كتابات ماجد الغرباوي لها علاقة بالتشريعات والقوانين الإسلامية. ولكنه أساسا مفكر إصلاحي يهتم بما يفيد المجتمع.
وتركيزه على مبدأ المجتمع المدني يدل على ضعف إحساسه بالدولة كجهاز استبداد ورقابة وعلى ترجيحه لمبدأ الحوار وإطلاق الحريات العامة والخاصة. وضرورة تبني علاقات نسبية لا تسيء للدولة من خلال تحجيم دور ما هو ليس من خصوصياتها.
لقد أراد الغرباوي في كل أعماله أن يكون منفتحا على المجال الإنساني للبشرية. ولا يمكن لإنسان أن ينجز ويتطور وهو تحت رقابة صارمة ومجموعة من الأوامر والنواهي.
وميزة الإسلام، مع أنه دين موحد، يدين بالطاعة لجوهر الذات الإلهية الواحدة (الفرد الصمد) أنه أيضا تعبير لتصورات اجتماعية. تسمح للإنسان بالبحث عن ذاته كمفرد وكعضو في جماعة.
لم يتدخل الدين في خصوصيات الأفراد ما داموا لا يتدخلون في عموميات الدولة.
