وبناءً على ما تقدم يضم هذا الكتاب في ثناياه معلومات وافرة عن دور جون فيليبي في التطورات السياسية التي شهدتها الجزيرة العربية عقب انتهاء الحرب العالمية الأولى وحتى منتصف عقد الخمسينات من القرن العشرين، وتابعت فصوله نشاط فيليبي في المجال السياسي مندوباً عن الحكومة البريطانية في جهوده إقامة صلات طيبة بين بلاده وأمراء المنطقة، لا سيما مع أمير نجد وشريف الحجاز واتباع سياسة من شأنها تهدئة حالة التوتر التي غلبت على علاقات البلدين، فضلاً عن وساطته في حل الخلافات النجدية – الكويتية خلال سنوات الحرب العالمية الأولى وما بعدها، وكذلك سلط الكتاب في محتوياته الضوء على دور فيليبي التجاري وسيطاً بين الحكومة السعودية والشركات الأوروبية والأمريكية، في مجالات عدة، ولا سيما قطاع النفط ورحلاته الاستكشافية في الجزيرة العربية المتضمنة ملاحظاته القيمة عن جغرافية المنطقة وتضاريسها ونباتها التي أفادت السلطات السعودية والشركات العاملة بالبلاد في أعمال التنقيب عن النفط وإقامة المشاريع المختلفة بهدف إحداث التطور المنشود في البلاد.
