تستند هذه الدراسة على الصحف التركية كمصدر أساسي في استسقاء معلوماتها. فكما هو معروف فالصحافة تعد مصدرًا شديد الأهمية في أبحاث التاريخ الحديث والمعاصر، وصعوبة الحصول على الوثائق الرسمية لتلك الفترة ضاعف من أهمية الصحافة كمصدر في التاريخ.
لقد شهدت الصحافة ثورة كبرى في أواخر العهد العثماني وبداية تأسيس الجمهورية التركية حيث نجد صحفًا متعددة استمر بعضها حتى يومنا هذا والبعض الآخر لم يستمر، وإنه بالمسح الأول الذي قام به المؤلف عن الصحف التركية، وجد أنه من الأفضل أن تكون جريدة (جمهورية) هي الأساس لمعلومات هذه الدراسة لكونها الجريدة الرسمية للدولة ولاستمراريتها حتى يومنا هذا.
ولقد تزامن صدور جريدة جمهورية مع تحركات الملك عبد العزيز آل سعود المبذولة من أجل بناء كيانه الحديث المستقل، حيث تأسست جريدة جمهورية في مايو 1924م وتولى رئاستها (يونس نادي) الذي يعتبر من أكبر الصحفيين والمتميزين في تركيا آنذاك وكانت لغة الجريدة عشية صدورها (اللغة العثمانية) واستمرت تصدر بالحروف العثمانية حتى 1928م، وبعد ذلك بدأت تصدر بالحروف التركية الحديثة (الحروف اللاتينية).
