في "مذكرات مدينة الجسور" يستعيد المهندس السعودي "محمد إبراهيم اليحيى" جملة من الوقائع والذكريات لبعضٍ من المحطات والتجارب الشخصية التي عاشها أثناء – فترة الابتعاث – إلى كندا وبالتحديد في مدينة ساسكاتون "Saskatoon" خلال عام ونصف قضاها في مدينة الجسور، كما يحلو للبعض تسميتها، منها ما تم توثيقه بالصورة، وأخرى تم تدوينها بالقلم، لتشكل في مجموعها مرآة لأفكاره وتحليلاته ورؤاه في المجتمع الجديد. وعن مذكرات مدينة الجسور يخاطب الكاتب القارئ قائلاً: "هو اطلاعك من خلال رصد ونقل المشاهدات التي عشتها في كندا مدعومة برؤى وانطباعات شخصية. قد تكون مثل هذه المشاهدات لم تنقل إليك من قبل أو لم تعشها عن قرب أو ترغب بالعيش إلى بيئة قريبة منها في مستقبلك ولعلها تضيف إلينا جميعاً المعرفة ولو كانت قليلة". ويتابع: أرى أنه من الضروري الحديث عن تجربة شخصية وتوثيقها وخاصة هذا النوع منها، وهو ما يحتاجه تحديد المقبلين على السفر إلى الخارج لمثل هذا الغرض". وبين البداية والنهاية التي كتبت فيها المذكرات، كان للبلاغة حضورها عبر محسناتها الكثيرة، فتوافرت الاستعارات الجميلة والكنايات، واستوحى الكاتب التراث الديني والشعري منه والنثري، واتكأ على أقوال الفلاسفة والحكماء، وقدم توليفة لغوية جميلة، متنوعة عن ثقافة المجتمع الكندي، ولكن من دون أن ينسى وطنه الأجمل. محتويات الكتاب: البداية، الأمة الأولى، قبل المغادرة، الماجد، اليوم الثالث، إبوني وأديسون، مستوى 10، شهر رمضان، رحلة تورنتو، بحيرة واسكاسيوو، لحظات في الذاكرة (1)، العيد في مدينة الجسور، مهرجان المواهب، خالد، ليالي اليتم هورتن، رحلة فانكوفر، رحلة سرّية، يوم الأوكرانيين، رحلة ألبو، الأسبوع العالمي، العودة إلى الوطن، لحظات في الذاكرة (2). وأخيراً خربشة في المقهى.
