فلقد احتشد التاريخ في هذه المذكرات، بأحداثه ووقائعه، المحلي منها وما يتجاوز المحلي، كما كان للسياسة، بمشهدياتها، حضورٌ، وللتنظير السياسي مطرحٌ متواضع.
ولعله كان لعلم الإجتماع المساحة الأكثر إتساعاً، ولا سيما عَبْرَ الفصل الأخير ذي العناوين الإثني عشر، وهو فصلٌ - كما أسفلنا - يُبرز العالم العلوي والعالم السُفلي لطرابلس، عبر مشهديات تستنطق بعضاً من رجالاتها المشتهرين، ويستعرض نمطية الحياة اليومية، وتشي بجانب من التذهين الطرابلسي لشرحةِ من الشرحات الإجتماعية، وما يعروها من إيمان غيبي ومعتقدات أسطورية مترسخة لديها...
في مطلق الأحوال، وبمعزلٍ عما أفاد الكاتب من روافد معرفية، كانت مُتَّكأهُ، فإن السنجقدار ما كان ليُحيط علماً بهذه المذكرات لو لم يترهُبْ في هيكل مدينته، يتلو في جنباتها صلاةً فاتحتُها: طرابلس المظلومة، إني أُشفق عليك وبكِ أهيمُ حتى العظم!...
