شآبيب ابن عايض صالح هي نوع من السخرية السوداء اللاذعة زاخرة بمعاني فلسفية تأملية بدت ومن أولى صفحات الكتاب تصور فجيعة كل إنسان بنفسه وبمن حوله، وبرغم طابعها المحلي، إلا أنه وبالنظر إلى ما تحيل إليه النصوص فهي نموذج لإنسان العصر.
يُسرد المؤلف شآبيبه بقواعد تتمرد على المعايير الجمالية السائدة، وبإسلوب خطابي يجسد رؤية خاصة للعالم الذي ينشد إعادة ترتيبه بالحوار - حوار الذات وحوار الآخر - للوصول معاً إلى نقاط التقاء مشتركة؛ تساعد الوجدان في فهم واقعٍ متسلسلٍ نعيشه جميعاً وتقوم عليه ديمومة الحياة، بكل قوانينها ووجوهها وألوانها وناسها.
في المقدمة التي يفتتح بها المؤلف عمله والتي تمظهرت بصيغة "الإهداء" يتوجه إلى كل شاب وشابة ويقول لهم: أرجو أن تصلكم رسائلي وأنتم سالمون من السموم والأفكار الشيطانية والأفكار المنحرفة والعقائد الفاسدة، أرجو أن تصلكم وأنتم أنقياء الفكر وسليمو العقل صحيحو الجسد لأن الزمن خطير، ونحن مستهدفون من عدة جهات سواء ادعت الحرية والديمقراطية أو الإسلام والطريق الصحيح، فكلها مغرضة ومسيّسة وتحقّق أهداف أشخاص ضلّوا عن سواء السبيل...".
والكتاب هو نص نثري طويل مقسم إلى فقرات تتراوح بين الطول والقصر، جاءت بلا عناوين على أن قراءة جزء منه لا تغني عن قراءة آخر، وقد بدا فيه المؤلف شغوفاً بإيصال رسالته الفكرية، بأقل لفظ، وأكمل معنى، حيث الترتيب اللغوي حاضر لتلقف اللحظة الآسرة وهذا هو امتياز النص.
من عوالم "شآبيب" نقرأ:لا تبحث عن السعادة بين أيدي التعساء... وإن كانوا كلهم تعساء... وهم كذلك... فاجلب لهم السعادة من أعماقك.السخرية من الآخرين لن تسد النقص الذي ينتابك حين تقف أمامهم. (السخرية درب الجبناء السلس، يحتاج لساناً بذيئاً وعيناً ثاقبة).ينتظرون الحظ... بينما الحظ ينتظرني، أنا هكذا أرى الأشياء وهي لا تراني.الحياة... نقطة تبدأ في فكرك، وكل شيء كنته فكرتك تحتويه.
