في البدء كانت الكلمة، هكذا قال الكتاب المقدس عن رسالة السيد المسيح الذي تجسَّدَ وصُلبَ من أجل البشر وقام في اليوم الثالث، في مزود بيت لحم، حيث توافد ملوك المجوس، ومن بتول لا عروس لها اسمها مريم بنت داود، إلى أورشليم، عمل يسوع الناصري لخلاص العالم، وحمل صليبه على درب الجلجلة فداءً للبشرية جمعاء. بين حلف الأقليات وإشكاليات معلقة على خشبة التاريخ يقرأ "نسيم ضاهر" سلوك الكنائس المشرقية حيال الظاهرة المعنونة بالربيع العربي مُعتبراً أنه "من المغالاة، وربما الإجحاف في قراءة تاريخية، قياس سلوك الكنائس المشرقية حيال الظاهرة المعنونة بالربيع العربي، كما لو أنها بخير حال وتمام عافية. فغالب رعايا هذه الكنائس، وأحياناً معظمها، ابتعد عن دارها الأصلية مقيماً في المهاجر النائية عبر القارات، سواء بعامل الهجرة طلباً للرزق، أو نتيجة اقتلاعه ودفعه قسراً إلى حيث الطمأنينة والأمان. في المحصلة العامة، تزامنت موجات المغادرة مع حقبات الضيق الاقتصادي والاضطراب الناجم عن تبدل معالم اللوحة السياسية إقليمياً، ولم تكن بعيدة عن الشعور بخوف الأقليات على خلفية التمييز، والهروب مما اعتبرته جماعات لوناً من الاضطهاد...". وفي ثنايا العمل يتطرق الكاتب إلى العوامل التي جعلت من المسيحية المشرقية تنكفأ على ذاتها، وتنأى بنفسها على مر التاريخ ويتحدث عن دور الموارنة (الكنيسة المارونية) في لبنان، وكيف لعبت دوراً محورياً في تعريف الكيان السياسي المقبل بعيد تجربة نظام المتصرفية وانهيار السلطة العثمانية، حتى بات الحضور المسيحي في لبنان يحاكي سائر النصارى في المحيط، ولا يزال مستمراً إلى يومنا هذا... يضم الكتاب مجموع مقالات للكاتب نسيم ضاهر جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: 1- ما سر أتباع الكنائس المشرقية،
