تزخر هذه الرواية بالمعلومات المروية من خلال تنقل الراوي بين مدن وبراري المغرب ومن خلال المتعبّدين والنسّاك الذين يلتقي بهم ويزودونه بطريق المعرفة الذي وكما يقول لا حدود له "وأن الله وحده قادر بأن يلقي بنوره على من يشاء من عباده"..
ومقابل انصرافه إلى هذه المعرفة، وعلى أساسها، يحكي عن الناس وما يضفيه خيالهم من قصص على ما يجري في الواقع من حقائق.. وهو بذلك يكشف عن وعي جمعي سحري يجعل الناس يروون ما يتهيأ لهم ويصدقونه ويمارس، في الآن نفسه، نقدًا غير مباشر للمعتقدات الشعبية التي تتحول عندهم إلى حقائق هي بديل المعرفة وصورة للجهل والتخلف الفكري.
باختصار هذه رواية ثرية مروية بأسلوب سلس كلاسيكي متعته فيما ترويه من أحداث تقع، وبشكل رئيسي، للراوي "أبو يعزى الهسكوري". إنه أسلوب الحكايه التراثية القائم سردها على المقدمة والحبكة المميزة بتوالي العقد ثم النهاية/الحل التي لها وقعها عادة في نفس القارئ
