هل نفقد ذاكرتنا الجماعية والفردية لنستمرّ؟ وإذا فعلنا، فمنذا الذي نحمّله مسؤولية 200 ألف قتيل و300 ألف جريح ومعوّق و17 ألف مفقود ومخطوف ومليون مهجَّر ومئة مليار دولار من الخسائر؟؟.. إشكالية يطرحها هذا الكتاب وهو يوثِّق لجزء مهم من حياة اللبنانيين بعد انتهاء الحرب الأهلية عام 1990. ويخوض في كل مفاصل السلم الأهلي الهش والمهدّد. ويتحدّث عن صراع جيل الحرب وجيل اتفاق الطائف. ويتطرّق إلى أشد الأحداث التي وقعت في هذه الحقبة، منها اغتيال الرئيس الحريري والانتفاضة الشعبية التي تلته وأحداث السابع من أيار. ويتابع حلول ديمقراطية الطوائف محل ديمقراطية فوضى الحرب.ويعرض لمفهوم الدولة من مختلف المناظير، وتغليب أي منطق على منطقة الدولة! وكيف يتحكَّم الوضع السياسي باللافتات والشعارات فيوقدها ويطفئها بحسب بورصة المصالح. ويقارب التموضع الطائفي للسكان في مختلف المناطق، وإلى أي هاوية مندفعون ما دام أمراء السلم هم أنفسهم أمراء الحرب؟!
