لا أحد يماري أن استشراء الحرية الاقتصادية يجعل الحرية السياسية غير ذات جدوى، لا بل يحيلها إلى كلمات جوفاء لا قيمة لها في الواقع، إذ ما قيمة الحرية السياسية في نظام يقوم فقط على الحرية الاقتصادية ويسمح بنشوء الفوارق السحيقة بين الطبقات، ويؤكد عدم المساواة في الواقع، ثم ما تكون قيمة حرية حق الترشيح لرجل يسعى للبحث عن قوته اليومي.
ويعوزه المال اللازم للتعليم، ويحول الفقر بينه وبين تحمل نفقات الترشيح والدعاية، ولا عجب أن نرى أن الفقر والجهل سيقفان دون إمكانية انتخابه، أو حتى مجرد تقديم اسمه للترشح.
ولا غرابة أن نجد الأفراد الذين يتحكمون في الحياة الاقتصادية، هم أنفسهم الذين يتحكمون في الحياة الاقتصادية، وهم الذين يخضعون الحكام لإرادتهم ومصالحهم، فمواردهم المالية الضخمة تيسر لهم السيطرة والتحكم بالصحافة ووسائل الإعلام، وتمكنهم من الحصول على تأييد الناخبين شاءوا ذلك أم أبوا.
