يقدِّم الكاتب في هذا العمل سيرة ذاتية مجتزأة لمرحلتَين من حياته بين آذار من عام 2003 حتى شباط من عام 2004، ومن تموز 2014 حتى كانون الأول من ذات العام، شلال من الذاكرة ينفتح ليروي الكاتب تفاصيل تجاربه في السجن و في رحلة البحث عن وطن، مما ورد في الكتاب:
"أشطرُ نفسي إلى قسمَين و أُخاطِب أنا الآخر، أُقدِّم لهُ إعتذارات السنوات الماضية مرَّةً واحدة، قد نعيشُ دهراً دون أن نلتفِتَ إلى ذلك الساكن في داخلنا، هوَ صورةٌ طبق الأصل عنَّا، و ربَّما هو النسخةُ المُزوَّرةُ عن بقايانا التي ضاعت بين زواريب المُدُن العربية، كيفَ لي أن أُقنِعهُ أنَّ كلَّ ما حدَثَ كان خارجاً عن إرادتي، كيفَ لي أن أُقنِعهُ أنَّ كلَّ ما آمَنَ بهِ كان كذباً، كلَّ مُسلَّماتِهِ كانت زوراً لم تُقارب الحقيقة يوماً، الحقيقةُ الوحيدةُ التي سيجُدُها أنَّني و هوَ -دون آخرين- نجلسُ فوقَ بعضِنا على كرسيٍّ واحد في مطارٍ يعجُّ بالراحلين و القادمين و العابرين".
