عبد الغني بن إسماعيل بن عبد الغني النابلسي الدمشقي الحنفي (1050 هـ - 1143 هـ / 1641 - 1731م) شاعر شامي وعالم بالدين والأدب ورحالة مكثر من التصنيف. ولد ونشأ وتصوف في دمشق. قضى سبع سنوات من عمره في دراسة كتابات "التجارب الروحيّة" لِفُقهاء الصوفية. وقد تعدّدت رحلاته عبر العالم الإسلامي، إلى إسطنبول ولبنان والقدس وفلسطين ومصر والجزيرة العربية وطرابلس وباقي البلاد السورية. استقر في مدينته دمشق وتوفي فيها.

الرؤى والأحلام تعطي الإنسان صورة لكيانه الخفي وحقيقته الروحية والنفسية وهي صورة لمعدنه وجوهره. وبالوقت نفسه هي إثبات لعالم الروح المبثوث في حنايا الجسم والتي تتلقى أنواراً إلهية وإلهامات وإشراقات ربانية وكشوفات نافعة في مجالات الدين والحياة, تخدم التربية والمربين وتخدم الأخلاق والسلوك الإنساني, إن هذه الكلمة خطوط عريضة تحتاج الى تفصيل وتوضيح. ليس شيئاً عبثاً في هذا الوجود طالما أن كل شيء خاضع لميزان دقيق لقوله تعالى: (إنا كل شيء خلقناه بقدر) وهذه الآية تجعلنا نفرغ إمكانية علمية لمعرفة الكشف وحقيقته من خلال الرؤيا الصالحة, ليعلم القارى أن هذه الأحلام وتفسيراتها ليست تخريفاً وليست جهلاً وليست بعداً عن العلمية والعقلانية والمنطق السليم والقياس الصحيح. فالرؤيا الحق والتي هي من عند الله, عبارة عن كشف روحي باطني وإلهام رباني, وهي الجزء المقصود في الحديث الشريف (رؤيا المؤمن حق وهي جزء من ست وأربعين جزءاً من النبوة).
