عبد الغني بن إسماعيل بن عبد الغني النابلسي الدمشقي الحنفي (1050 هـ - 1143 هـ / 1641 - 1731م) شاعر شامي وعالم بالدين والأدب ورحالة مكثر من التصنيف. ولد ونشأ وتصوف في دمشق. قضى سبع سنوات من عمره في دراسة كتابات "التجارب الروحيّة" لِفُقهاء الصوفية. وقد تعدّدت رحلاته عبر العالم الإسلامي، إلى إسطنبول ولبنان والقدس وفلسطين ومصر والجزيرة العربية وطرابلس وباقي البلاد السورية. استقر في مدينته دمشق وتوفي فيها.

"تعطير الأنام في تعبير المنام" كتاب يبحث في تأويل الرؤى والأحلام وهو كتاب جامع في هذا المجال إذ أن مصنفه وهو "عبد الغني إسماعيل النابلسي" قد جمعه من عدة كتب هامة في هذا الموضوع وقد قسمه تقسيماً ألفبائياً على حسن الأمور التي ترى في المنام وهدفه تقديم كتاب شامل وغني يفي بغرض السائلين عن تفسير لأحلامهم. ولما كان لهذا الكتاب أهمية بين كتب التراث القديمة فقد أولاه المحقق "أحمد عناية" العناية اللازمة لتقديمه بحلة جديدة ومهذبة ومرتبة ومبوبة وقدم له بمقدمة مختصرة عرف فيها بمصنفه وبأهم آثاره العلمية.
فقد أولاه المحقق "معروف زريق" العناية اللازمة لتقديمه بحلة جديدة وقدم له بدراسة علمية سيكولوجية للأحلام عند فلاسفة العرب والمسلمين مهذبة ومرتبة ومبوبة، وقدم له بدراسة علمية سيكولوجية للأحلام عند فلاسفة العرب والمسلمين فدرس أنواعها الرئيسية، ثم عرض لمناهجهم في تأويل الأحلام. من ثم عرض دراسة موضوعية لمؤلف الكتاب الشيخ عبد الغني النابلسي، من حيث هويته وشخصيته وحياته ومؤلفاته والمراجع التي تبحث عنه. كما واعتنى بتخريج الآيات الكريمة والأحاديث الشريفة الواردة بالنص، ووضح بعض المفردات الغامضة التي تحتاج لتوضيح، سواء كان توضيحاً لغوياً مقتبساً من معاجم اللغة وقواميسها، أو توضيحاً علمياً مقتبساً من الموسوعات العلمية المعاصرة.
