طاهر الطناحي: أديبٌ وصحفيٌّ وشاعرٌ مِصري، أحدُ الأوائل الذين طوَّعوا الصحافةَ للأدب، فجعلوا من المادةِ الصحفيةِ حُلةً أدبيةً زاهرة.
وُلدَ طاهر بن أحمد الطناحي بدمياط عامَ ١٩٠٣م، والتحَقَ بمدرسةِ دارِ العلومِ بعد انتقالِه إلى القاهرة، وعَمِل بعد تخرُّجِه بمجلةِ «المُصوِّر»، ومجلة «كل شيء»، ثم التحَقَ ﺑ «دار الهلال» وعَمِل بها حتى وفاتِه.
اتصَلَ الطناحي بأُدباءِ عصرِه، مثلَ مصطفى لطفي المنفلوطي، وأحمد شوقي، وحافظ إبراهيم، وكان له جهودٌ كبيرةٌ في استكتابِ كبارِ الأدباءِ بمجلةِ دار الهلال.
كما كان له الفضلُ في نشرِ العديدِ من الكُتبِ لكبارِ الأُدباءِ والمفكرين بسلسلةِ «كتاب الهلال»، مثلَ العقاد، ومي زيادة، ومحمد عبده، وأحمد لطفي السيد، ومحمد علي علوبة، وجرجي زيدان.
وللطناحي عِدةُ مؤلَّفات، منها: «على ضفاف دجلة والفرات»، و«بين السيف والقلم»، وهما مجموعتانِ قصصيتانِ تُخلِّدانِ أمجادَ العرب، و«على فِراش الموت»، وهو تسجيلٌ للساعاتِ الأخيرةِ لكبارِ الأدباءِ والكُتابِ قبلَ الموت، و«حديقة الأدباء»، و«حياة مطران»، و«ساعات من حياتي».
تُوفِّي طاهر الطناحي عامَ ١٩٦٧م.

يضم هذا الكتاب فصولا متنوعة كتبها الأديب الراحل طاهر الطناحي، وهي في الأصل مقالات نشرها صاحبها في الصحف والمجلات ولم يضمها معا بين دفتي كتاب، وقد جمعناها وننشرها الآن لنصنع صنيع الكاتب نفسه، فقد كان صديقا للأديب الأشهر عباس محمود العقاد، وجمع مقالات لم يضمها كتاب للعقاد، ونشرها تحت عنوان " أنا" وكانت حجته أن العقاد حين نشر تلك الفصول المتفرقة عن نفسه إنما كان يصدر فيها عن تصور شامل لكتاب يترجم فيه لنفسه، أو يقدم فيه سيرة حياته ، ومعروف أن العقاد لم يترجم لنفسه في كتاب، فناب عنه الطناحي.كما فعل الصنيع نفسه في كتاب "حياة قلم".
