طاهر الطناحي: أديبٌ وصحفيٌّ وشاعرٌ مِصري، أحدُ الأوائل الذين طوَّعوا الصحافةَ للأدب، فجعلوا من المادةِ الصحفيةِ حُلةً أدبيةً زاهرة.
وُلدَ طاهر بن أحمد الطناحي بدمياط عامَ ١٩٠٣م، والتحَقَ بمدرسةِ دارِ العلومِ بعد انتقالِه إلى القاهرة، وعَمِل بعد تخرُّجِه بمجلةِ «المُصوِّر»، ومجلة «كل شيء»، ثم التحَقَ ﺑ «دار الهلال» وعَمِل بها حتى وفاتِه.
اتصَلَ الطناحي بأُدباءِ عصرِه، مثلَ مصطفى لطفي المنفلوطي، وأحمد شوقي، وحافظ إبراهيم، وكان له جهودٌ كبيرةٌ في استكتابِ كبارِ الأدباءِ بمجلةِ دار الهلال.
كما كان له الفضلُ في نشرِ العديدِ من الكُتبِ لكبارِ الأُدباءِ والمفكرين بسلسلةِ «كتاب الهلال»، مثلَ العقاد، ومي زيادة، ومحمد عبده، وأحمد لطفي السيد، ومحمد علي علوبة، وجرجي زيدان.
وللطناحي عِدةُ مؤلَّفات، منها: «على ضفاف دجلة والفرات»، و«بين السيف والقلم»، وهما مجموعتانِ قصصيتانِ تُخلِّدانِ أمجادَ العرب، و«على فِراش الموت»، وهو تسجيلٌ للساعاتِ الأخيرةِ لكبارِ الأدباءِ والكُتابِ قبلَ الموت، و«حديقة الأدباء»، و«حياة مطران»، و«ساعات من حياتي».
تُوفِّي طاهر الطناحي عامَ ١٩٦٧م.

لماذا أكتب سيرتي؟..
ما أنا ممن تكتب سيرته، ولا ممن تترك للأجيال طريقته، فإني لم آت لأمتي عملاً يذكر، ولم يكن لي فيها اليوم أثر يؤثر، حتى أكون لأحد منها قدوة، أو يكون لأحد في أسوة.. وهذا الذي أجد من استصغار أمري، وخفاء أثري، وظهور عجزي عن بلوغ ما يرمي إليه فكري ويطمح إليه نظري كان يمنعني من أن أكتب شيئا يتعلق بحياتي، تعرص فيه بداياتي، وشيء من أعمالي بعدها وصفاتي، حتى أكون به باقيا عند من يطالعه بعد مماتي. وكنت أقول: وقت أصرفه في حكمة أستفيدها خير من زمن أنفقه في قصة أستعيدها، وما الذي عساه يبقى مني، وأنا في قومي لم أترك ما يؤثر عني...
بهذه الكلمات المتواضعة من عالم ومفكر جليل جدير بأن نقرأ سيرته ومسيرة حياته الانسانية والفكرية ، وقد عمل الكتاب القدير طاهر الطناحي على كتابتها وتنقح مذكرات الامام محمد عبده ، فهي جديرة بالقراءة والدرس .
