«بعد تقاعده وجد كاتب عدل في مدينة صور الساحلية، إسمه صخر عرب، نفسه مدفوعا بحنين قديم إلى الكتابة. كان روائيا ومحبا للقراءات ومغرما بالقصص والحكايات. أيقظه مخطوط قديم طي آلاف الأوراق والوثائق والمستندات الرسمية، عند تقاعده من عمله، وفي أول أيام تركه الوظيفة، وهو أول يوم من أيام إجازته الجديدة الطويلة، وقد إشتاق وحنّ كثيرا لكتبه التي شغلته المعاملات عن كثير منها وعن أوراقه، والتي أجّل قراءتها إلى يومٍ كهذا، فدبّ فيه الشوق والرغبة للكتابة.
كان يقوم بترتيب أغراضه وأوراقه وتوضيبها، وفرزها تمييزا لها عن الوثائق والأوراق الرسمية التابعة للدائرة، لما فتح أوراقه، وعثر بينها على مخطوطة قديمة، كان قد قدمها له صديق وزميل له من الجبل، ونصحه بقراءتها لجمالها، والإطلاع على محتوياتها لأهميتها.
ولكنه أجل ذلك مرات عديدة، ولليوم الأخير، لعلها تكون مِسك الختام.
كان عنوان المخطوطة «ضربة شمس- سيرة المملوك الضائع الأمير حسن المصري». أما إسم مؤلفها فلم يكن معلوما، لوجود لطخة حبر سوداء غطّت على إسم المؤلف، فوضعها جانبا، وقرر مطالعتها في اليوم التالي.
أثاره المخطوط القديم، بشكله وبتجليده، وخطّه الجميل،وبعث فيه من جديد كوامن حب الكتابة من أعماق نفسه.
