إن لم تكن هذه الحكايات والأقاصيص تدور في مدينة، ولو لم يتم ذكرها ولا حتى مرّة واحدة – وهنا هي مدينة صور – وفي زمن يرجع لأواسط القرن التاسع عشر، إلاّ أنها قد تعبّر عن واقع أية مدينة لبنانية، أو عربية في هذا المشرق المتحفز الحالم. إنها تروي وتحكي عن مجتمع أناس وأشخاص، بعاداتهم وتقاليدهم ومعتقداتهم الماضية والمتغيرة، عاشوا وأحوالهم السياسية والدينية والثقافية، وتفكيرهم وكيف يحبون ويكرهون ويفرحون ويحزنون ويؤمنون ويشكّون ويعملون ويعيشون ويموتون، ويمرضون ويشفون ويكدحون، وكيف يتغيرون ويتبدلون، ولكافة مشاعر الحزن والفرح والمجون والتسلية والضحك والغيرة والحسد والإيثار والتضحية والأنانية والغيرة والحسد والكبرياء والتواضع والجبن والشجاعة والبخل والعطاء، وسائر مشاعر بني البشر، وكل ما عندهم ولديهم من مأساة وملهاة – بين وبين -، وتصف بيوتهم وأماكنهم وملبسهم ومأكلهم، ووسائل النقل والمدارس ودوائر الحكومة، وكيف كانوا يديرون مجتمعهم ويتدبرون عيشهم، ولظاهرة الاغتراب وتوظيف المال والمدخرات بالمشاريع الريعية – بساتين وأبنية مؤجرة – أو سواها، وللنواحي الحقوقية والثقافية والفنية والغنائية، وبعض الطقوس الدينية، والروابط العائلية والأنساب والخلافات، وتربية الحيوانات الأليفة والنباتات ولكل ما هو جميل، ونظرتهم للحياة والموت والعدم والوجود والحب والصداقة والفوارق الطبقية، و(حساسية العلاقات بين الطوائف والمذاهب والعلاقة اللبنانية الفلسطينية)، والتعامل مع المواطن اليهودي الساعي وراء التجارة، الحرب والإجتياح والقصف والصراعات وفوضى السلاح، وآخر الأفكار والتطورات والموضة، والقلق والحيرة والرجاء وغير ذلك، وكما يفكر سائر الناس، سواءً بسواء…
