و تتداخل الوقائع و التفاصيل في الرواية لتقدّم لنا صورة عن الحرب الأهليّة في إسبانيا، و عن مرحلة الإستبداد الفرانكوي في أبعادها الإنسانيّة و في تأثيرها في المصائر الفرديّة.
تعتبر الذاكرة و الألم موضوعان مركزيّان في الرّواية، الّتي تتّسم بالتفاصيل البسيطة أحيانًا، و الإنفعالات العميقة و العنيفة، و صراعها المرير مع ماضيها و تجاربها أحيانًا أخرى.
و على الرّغم من الأجواء القاتمة الّتي تهيمن على الرّواية، فإنه هناك احتفاءً ملحوظًا بالإبداع و المبدعين، من خلال شخصيّات من بينهم الشاعر، و المترجم، و الرسّام.
تعتبر ” أزهار عبّاد الشّمس العمياء ” من الروايات الإسبانيّة الكلاسيكيّة الّتي حازت على إعجاب و اهتمام النقّاد. كما أنّها حظيت باهتمام كبير و فازت بجوائز عدّة.
