بعد أن أصبح عاملاً فيه قرّر إبراهيم سالم، المجنّد السابق في الأمن المركزي، أن ينهب مصنع البيرة. لكن أطماعه لا تتوقّف هنا، فيتعاون مع المومس ناديا وأستاذ التاريخ رمضان لبيع المصنع الذي يختزل تاريخ مصر الحديث بمبلغ 300 مليون جنيه. يجنّد جاسوساً له داخل المصنع لمعاونته على إتمام صفقة الخصخصة وصولاً إلى البيع النهائي. يسمع مراد الطالب الجامعي أصوات العمال الذين يهتفون ضدّ بيع مصدر رزقهم، لكن ماذا بإمكانه أن يفعل؛ فهو جزء من الصفقة بحكم علاقته القديمة بالمافيا السارقة.
رواية شيّقة تروي تاريخ مصرالذي تمّ نهبه بانتظام على يد المستثمرين الجدد، حلفاء النخبة الحاكمة. هؤلاء لم يعلموا أن الخنادق التي حفرها الأجانب، عندما بنوا المصنع التاريخي، سيعبر منها شباب ثورة 25 يناير إلى ميدان التحرير.
