مصر 2011، سنة الثورة.يتذكّر أحد ثلاثة شعراء مغمورين من "جيل التسعينات" المصري الجماعة الأدبية التي جمعته ورفيقيه سنة ١٩٩٧. للمرّة الأولى ينتبه إلى أن لحظة تأسيس "جماعة التماسيح للشعر المصري السرّي" كانت أيضاً لحظة انتحار رمز من رموز "جيل السبعينات" من المثقّفين الذين حمل جيله إرثهم: المناضلة رضوى عادل. من هنا، يبدأ الراوي في التساؤل عمّا يربط الحدثين، مسترجعاً السنوات الأربع التي مارس التماسيح فيها نشاطهم بكلّ ما فيها: الجنس والمخدرات والتمرّد... هل يمكن أن يكون تأسيس الجماعة الأدبية وانتحار المناضلة هو ما أدّى - خلال خمسة عشر عاماً - إلى "ثورة انتظرناها ونحن لا نعرف أننا ننتظرها، وحين جاءت مارقة كقطار أخير ترتكتنا مشدوهين على رصيف المحطة؟" إنه تاريخ العقد الأول من الألفية الثانية في القاهرة، لكنّها رواية الشعر لذلك التاريخ: رواية الهوس والخيال وطاقة التجاوز.
