أكتاب آخر عن ابن خلدون ؟ أجل ! ولكنه ليس كالكتب التي ألفت عنه مشرقا ومغربا، سواء بالعربية أو باللغات الأعجمية، بل هو ((ينسخها))، إن كان للنسخ معنى في هذا المقام، أو قل يجبها، على غرار جب الإسلام لما قبله. هو ليس كالكتب والدراسات العديدة التي رأت في ابن خلدون مفكرا حداثيا أو مبشرا بالحداثة أو مهيئا لها، ورأت فيه مؤرخا متميزا بنظره الثاقب في زمن التقليد والاجترار، وبذلك تفسر أن لم يكن له تلامذة يسيرون على دربه، فبدا علما فردا واستثناء يحفظ ولا يقاس عليه. أن يكتشف الاستشراق الغربي ابن خلدون في العصر الحديث، قبل أن ينتبه إليه الدارسون العرب، وأن يتبناه الإصلاحيون والمجددون على اختلاف اتجاهاتهم، كان بلا شك من أهم الأسباب في انتشار تمثل معين لآثار هذا الرجل، فوظفت مقدمته بالأخص لخدمة أغراض بعيدة كل البعد عن أهداف من وضعها. فقد كان العرب –وما زالوا – يبحثون عن ركائز ذاتية تسمح لهم بالانخراط في الحداثة دون أن يضطروا للاعتراف بأنهم ما صنعوا هذه الحداثة، في بعدها الفكري على الأقل، ولا أسهموا في إنتاجها، وظنوا أنهم عثروا على ضالتهم لدى ابن خلدون وابن رشد وأضرابهما. وقد استطاعت ناجية الوريمي بوعجيلة، بحسها النقدي المرهف وثقافتها المتينة، أن تبدد هذا الوهم، لا من باب ((خالف تعرف))، بل على أساس قراءة حصيفة لكل ما خلفه صاحب كتاب العبر من أعمال ((ملأت الدنيا وشغلت الناس))، على حد عبارة القاضي الفاضل في المتنبي. فلم تنسج على منوال أسلافها من الدارسين في عزل أقواله عن بعضها البعض، أو إسقاط اعتبارات الحاضر على معطيات الماضي، وعملت بالعكس على تفكيك البنية الداخلية للخطاب الخلدوني، وعلى تفهم النسق الذي يربط بين عناصرها جميعا، إخلاصا للحقيقة التاريخية ولما تفرضه المناهج الحديثة في قراءة النصوص. وأوصلها البحث إلى ما خيب ظنها في علم كانت تعتبره من قبل من قيم المعرفة ورائدا من رواد العقلانية. واكتشفت الزيف الذي لحق أجيالا من القراء حين التبس في اذهانهم التقليد بالتجديد، والفكر الموضوعي بالفكر الخرافي، والموقف الاستفهامي بالموقف الدوغمائي، والسلفية العقيمة بالتفتح على أفضل ما في تجارب الماضي وما عند الآخر، وعلى المستقبل في آن.
