"انطلقت آخر "زغاريد" ذلك القران الميمون في الساعة الثانية بعد منتصف الليل... وزيفّ "العروسان" إلى حجرتهما بعد أن رشا بالملح من عيون الحساد... وأغلق عليهما الباب وصارا وحدهما أخيراً... وقد اجتاز الأعتاب نحو تلك اللحظة التي لم تخلق مثل كل اللحظات... تلك اللحظة التي تشع كاللؤلؤة البهيجة في تاج الزمان... زمان كل فرد على هذه الأرض... من الملوك إلى الصعاليك... تلك اللحظة التي بذل فيها ما بذل... ومن أجلها احتشد المعارف والأصدقاء، واحتفل الأهل والأقرباء، ونصبت الموائد، وقرعت الكؤوس، ولعب الفرح والأنس بالرؤوس، وهي الرقص وارتفع الغناء، وسبح الحاضرون وعاموا في أويقات من الهناء... جاءت تلك اللحظة... قمة السهرة، وقبة الحفلة، ومحراب الليلة... لحظة الخلوة بين العروسين... يا لها من لحظة... كل زوج ولا شك يذكر حيرته وهو يبحث في رأسه عن أول كلمة يخاطب بها عروسه وقد صارا على انفراد... أيبدأ بكلمة جدية أم كلمة فكهة... أم كلمة عاطفية... وكل زوجة تذكر ولا ريب إحساسها وهي تنتظر الكلمة الأولى من فم "عريسها". أما عروس الليلة فلم يبد عليها أنها تنتظر شيئاً... فما كاد باب حجر العرس يغلق، حتى تركت "عريسها" واتجهت إلى منضدة الزينة..".
