مع قيام ثورة 23 يوليو 1952م، بدأ الاهتمام بتسليح الجيش المصري؛ فبناء جيش وطني قوي كان أحد الأهداف الرئيسة التي قامت من أجلها الثورة، وكان تحقيق ذلك يستلزم توفير الأسلحة والمعدات اللازمة للجيش، غير أن الدول الغربية –بخاصة بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة- ماطلت ورفضت الاستجابة لطلبات التسليح المصرية المتعددة، بينما تولت تلك الدول تسليح العدوان الإسرائيلي، وكانت كندا إحدي تلك الدول التى ساهمت فى دعم تل أبيب بالأسلحة التقليدية والإستراتيجية، ومن ثم كان على الإدارة المصرية التعامل مع تلك المعضلة، وتحاول هذه الدراسة إلقاء الضوء على "الموقف المصري من تسليح كندا لإسرائيل (1953 – 1956م)"، من خلال الاجابة على عدد من الاسئلة منها: كيف دخلت كندا سوق السلاح فى منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وأصبحت أحد الموردين الرئيسين لتسليح تل أبيب، وكيف اشتركت "أوتاوا" فى المناورات الأمريكية الخاصة بتسليح إسرائيل حتى لا تثير العرب وبخاصة مصر، وما الأغراض الحقيقية وراء تسليح كندا لإسرائيل، وما رد الفعل المصري تجاه تسليح أوتاوا لتل أبيب،
