...هنالك العديـد مـن المؤلفات عـن العـروض قـديمًا كالقسطاس للزمخشري والعقـد الفريد لابن عبد ربه..الخ، وحديثًا كميزان الذهب في صناعة شعر
العرب للهاشمي...الخ، وهي كتب نافعة ووافيـة فـي شـرح هـذا العلم، لكن بسبب اتباع السواد الأعظم منهـا منهجًا تقليديًّا في الشرح جعـل هـذا العلم عبئًا أثقل كاهـل الطلبة والشعراء وقـد لاحظت ذلك جليًّا من خلال تدريسي لمادة علم العروض والقافية وأيضًا غيـاب شـرح القافية والإيقاع بصـورة تفصيلية وأسباب أخرى كلها عوامل جعلتني أقوم بتأليف كتابي هذا بصورة مغايرة
عم سبق ولا أدعي شيئا قط بل أمل أن ينتفع طلبة العلم به ويكـون هذا العلم طوع أيديهم بعون الله وتوفيقه.
