الأرض الحبيسة منطقةٌ مُنفصلة عن إقليمها داخل إقليم غريب. والأرض المستحاطة جزء من بلد ما تُحيط به أرض أجنبية. سان مارينو وليسوتو هي أمثلة لمطوقات. وخلافاً للأرض الحبيسة، فإن الأرض الحبيسة يمكن أن يحيط بها العديد من الدول. جمهورية نخجوان الذاتية هي أرض حبيسة.
