في هذا الكتاب بيان لموقف أحد أبرز أعداء ابن تيمية المعاصرين، ليضع أمام القارئ نموذجاً من الواقع لخصوم ابن تيمية. وقد سمى المؤلف كتابه "هكذا تحدث ابن تيمية" ليجعله متمماً لكتاب هو "الرد الوافر" لخاتمة حفاظ الشام الإمام محمد بن أبي بكر عبد الله بن محمد بن أحمد بن مجاهد القيسي الشافعي، شمس الدين الشهير: بـ(ابن ناصر الدين الدمشقي).
حيث قام الحافظ ابن ناصر الدين: بجمع بعض أقوال العلماء والحفاظ في شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، وكيف أنهم يعظونه ويوقرونه ويعرفون له حقه، وهم علماء الإسلام وحفظ الدنيا، وأئمة الإسلام، حتى عهده. وإذا كان الحافظ ابن ناصر الدين جمع أقوال الأئمة والعلماء للدفاع عن ابن تيمية، ولإثبات براءته من الكفر، فإن المؤلف الشيخ الدوسري جمع أقوال ابن تيمية نفسه في القضايا التي أثيرت عليه في زمنه أو بعد ذلك.
