يقول المؤلف:فقد كثر الخوض هذه الأيام في مسائل قديمة عادت لها الحياة من جديد، وقد فزع أصحابها إلى كتب الدعوة النجدية واقتبسوا منها، وأيدوا بها مقالاتهم. وكأنهم بذلك حسموا النزاع وأنهوا الإشكال ولقد كان يمكن أن يقف الأمر إلى خلاف فقهي أو أصولي لا يفسد للود قضية، وتبقى معه محبة الإسلام وموالاته، لكن المخالف زعم أنهم أهل الحق المحض والمخالف لهم مبتدع يستحق الهجر زجرًا له ولأمثاله!!
و قد كنت أظن أن رسالتي «الأجوبة الوفية عن الأسئلة الزكية» ستحل الإشكال وتبين مواضع الخلل لتتآلف القلوب، خاصة ونحن جميعًا في محنة واحدة وسيف واحد مسلط على الجميع، لكن المخالف زاد تعصبا للدعوة النجدية، وزعم أن النقد قدح في علماء نشروا السنة ونصروا التوحيد، وأنني قصدت إلى التقليل من شأن النجديين والاستهانة بهم ولم أفهم كلامهم ولا أحسنت الظن بهم. وأن كلامهم لا يخالف ما كان عليه شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية وأصحابه، بل هو عين مذهب السلف الصالح أهل السنة والجماعة.
و قد كان ينبغي للمخالف، فرج الله عنا وعنه، أن يترك التعصب للرجال، وتقليدهم في القيل والقال، ويرجع إلى المنهج المعصوم لأهل القرون الفاضلة، وإلا فإن (الحركة الوهابية) هي تجربة بشرية مثل غيرها من التجارب يصيب أصحابها ويخطئون،
