"النجيمي": كائنات تتوهم التحليق وترى في ذواتها ألوهة لا تليق بكائنات يخاصرها الطين والوحشة واللامغنى". تدور أحداث الرواية في فضاء فوق واقعي، فالأماكن الروائية موجودة في ذهن الكاتب فقط وإن تشابه بعضها مع أماكن واقعية، والشخصيات بمعظمها من الآلهة والفلاسفة، والزمن لا يتطابق مع الزمن الأرضي، والأحداث غرائبية، وثمة مشاهد سوريالية، ما يجعل الرواية تقترب من الواقعية السحرية ... يقول الروائي عن عمله هذا: " ... اسمي هيكاتيوس، كتبت كتاباً اسمه "صانع القصص"، رسمت خريطة للعالم وألفت في الأنساب. زرت طيبة واجتمعت بكهنة زيوس. رأيت أشياء كثيرة وجبت العالم كما لم يفعل إغريقي قط. هذا الكتاب أسطره في خريف العمر قبل أن ينضب الحرف وتتوه مني الحكمة. أكتبه لأنه يروي حكاية غامضة وأنا أعشق الحكايا (...) أنا تعودت أن أقطن ما بين الكتابة والرواية، يستهويني ذلك وأحسن فعله. ذات يوم سخر مني قميء اسمه ثوقيديدس وشتم الرواة جميعاً، تجاهلته وتسليت برؤية الفيلسوف مغتاظاً وأغربت في الضحك. يبدو أن الفلاسفة يكتبون من الخارج ولا يملك الراوية إلا أن يعيش الكتابة من الداخل .. النقش الذي رقنته على أول هذا الرق وجدته قبل سنوات في حجرة قصية مهملة في معبد قرب ميليتوس. لغته من لغتنا وحروفه تتهجى أبجديتنا والأسماء والأماكن والأشياء فيه تبدو كحكاية خرافية لا علاقة لها بنا. لكنها خرافة لا تشبه شيئاً مما ألفته أو سمعته من المنشدين أو الحكائين الذين صادفتهم في حياتي ...".
