في هذا الديوان قصائد ذات طابه سياسي، تتماهى مع آمال الناس وآلامهم ومع حقوقهم الإنسانية المشروعة في قوانين الأرض والسماء. تلامس الواقع المعاش وتصور المعاناة القروية الناتجة عن الظلم، الاتي من خارج الحدود كما في مدونة غزة التي كتبت في أحداث الاعتداء الاسرائيلي على غزة عام 2009م، أو مدونة ميدان التحرير التي كتبت تزامناً مع أحداث ثورة 25 يناير في مصر، إضافة إلى اضواء الديوان إلى قصائد أخرى في (المديح) مرسلة (إلى سلطان بن عبد العزيز وإلى عبد الله آل الشيخ).
تحت عنوان (بذلت فرات جودك) وهي قصيدة موجهة إلى سلطان بن عبد العزيز، يقول الشاعر: ها قد تركت وما تركت قليلاً/ في كل دمعة خافق قنديلاً/ يا من بذلت فرات جودك كله/ حتى تفرق في المدائن نيلا/ ها نحن نبحث فيك عن بسماتنا/ ونعود دون نوالك المأمولا (...)".
وعن "غزَة" الجريحة يكتب شاعرنا الحاناً شجية، فكان الصوت الذي يصدح إلى جانب شعب تاهت أحلامه، واقتلع من أرضه، يكتب عن قضية العرب وعن بشر من لحم ودم ومشاعر لا تنطفئ، يقول: "اكتب/ لغزة وهي في قفطانها الشتوي/ تغزل جرحها المفتوح كالسردين/ تغفو ثم تصحو بين قنبلتين فسفوريتين(...). اكتب/ وغزة تحفز التاريخ جالسة بملعقةٍ/ وتكتب بالدم المحروق أسماء الردى(...) أكتب لغزة حين تنكسر اللغة/ اك.. تُ.. ب!".
هكذا هو زياد بن عبد العزيز آل الشيخ، هو ليس شاعر السعودية وفلسطين، فحسب، بل الأحرى أن يقال عنه شاعر الإنسانية بامتياز.
