في هذا الكتاب محاولة لاختصار علم النحو وفق منهج دراسي ميسر وبأسلوب واضح، قصد تقديمه لطالب النحو خلاصة واقية لموضوعاته ومسائله.
وقد قس إلى مقدمة عرف فيها: علم النحو وموضوعه وفائدته وبعض مفاهيمه العامة، وإلى الأبواب التالية: المرفوعات. المنصوبات، المجرورات. التوابع، الأساليب الإنشائية، أساليب تعبيرية أخرى. الأسماء العاملة، إعراب الفعل، أنواع الجمل.
وكانت طريقة المؤلف في إعداده: البدء بتعريف المصطلح النحوي، ثم شرح التعريف –إن كان هناك ما يتطلب الشرح- فاستعراض أقسامه وأحكامه.
مقتصراً في عرض الآراء النحوية على الرأي المشهور، أو مذهب المدرستين البصرية والكوفية.
ومعتمداً على ذكر بعض الشواهد النحوية –في حدود الحاجة إليها- كأدلة أو أمثلة، وبعض الأدلة الأخرى المهمة.
وقد قام بتنقيح وتهذيب ما قدمه في طبعة الكتاب السابقة وبإضافة ما فرضته الفائدة.
