للمثقفين والمفكرين والكتاب لغة .. هى لغة الحروف والكلمات والعقل والحجة و المنطق وللعسكر أيضا لغة ولكنها شئ آخر مختلفة عن سابقتها فهى لغة القوة والاعتقال واحيانا يكون لها صوت الرصاص كما يكون لها صوت القهر و القمع.. وبين هؤلاء وهؤلاء ينشب الخلاف وفي هذا الكتاب يقدم احد المثقفين المنتمين إلى الفريق الاول تجربته في عصر علا فيه صوت العسكر ولغتهم.. إنه الصحفي والكاتب صلاح عيسى يروي في هذا المجلد تجاربه وشهاداته عن حالة المثقفين في ظل حكم عبد الناصر والسادات.. يرويها بتفاصيلها الحية في ذاكرته وذاكرة من شاركه أحداثها. فيبدأها من المقدمة حين كان طفلا صغيرا في القرين عام 1948 متأثرا بمشهد هذا الرجل العجوز الذي أتى طالبا العطف والإحسان من بلاد تسمى "فلسطين" وحتى بقية المشاهد والتجارب في قاهرة الخمسينيات والستينيات والسبعينيات انه مجلد يروى تاريخا لا زال ينبض بالحياة حتى بعد ان تحول إلى ماض.. يروى قصة مثقف عاش النضال كما عاش الإعتقال.. كما عاش الذهول بعد هذا كله.
