صلاح عيسى كاتب وصحفى ومؤرخ ولد فى 4 اكتوبر عام 1939 فى قرية "بشلا " بمحافظة الدقهلية حصل على بكالوريوس فى الخدمة الاجتماعية عام 1961 ورأس لمدة خمس سنوات عددا من الوحدات الاجتماعية بالريف المصرى بدأ حياته كاتبا للقصة القصيرة ثم اتجه عام 1962 للكتابة فى التاريخ والفكر السياسى والاجتماعى تفرغ للعمل بالصحافة منذ عام 1972 فى جريدة الجمهورية أسس وشارك فى تأسيس وإدارة تحرير عدد من الصحف والمجلات منها الكتاب والثقافة الوطنية والهالى واليسار والصحفيون ويرأس الان تحرير جريدة القاهرة واعتقل لأول مرة بسبب آرائه السياسية عام 1966 وتكرر اعتقاله أو القبض عليه أو التحقيق معه أو محاكمته فى عدة سنوات مابين 1968 و 1981 وفصل من عمله الصحفى في الجرائد المصرية والعربية.
أصدر أول كتبة الثورة العرابية عام 1979 وصدر له 20 كتابا فى التاريخ والفكر السياسى والإجتماعى والأدب منها تباريح جريج, ومثقفون وعسكر, ودستور فى صندوق القمامة, ورجال ريا وسكينة, وحكايات من دفتر الوطن, وغيره..

فى علم 1921 وصف الكاتب الكبير " عباس محمود العقاد " الشقيقتين " ريا " و " سكينة " بأنهما من أصحاب النفوس الميتة .. ومنذ ذلك الحين دخلت الإثنتان التاريخ باعتبارهما رمزا للشر المجرد ولم يعن أحد من المؤرخين بتقصى حقيقة ما نسب إليهما من جرائم أو بالبحث عن الدوافع التى قادتهما لارتكابها . وهذا الكتاب هو محاولة لرواية السيرة الحقيقية لـ " ريا " و " سكينة" ولكل من أحاط بهما من رجال ونساء وظروف سياسية واقتصادية عامة وهو يستند الى وثائق التاريخ وليس إلى مرويات الخيال الشعبي الذى أسقط عليهما كل كراهيته وازدرائه لمن يخون علاقة العيش والملح التى يقدسها المصريون.
