تبدأ الرواية خلال فترة 2010 عن جيان الكردية وصديقها المسيحي جوزيف ،تتحدث عن الثورة وموقف البطلين منها وتداعياتها على السوريين كما تناول أنفسنا كاشخاص معطوبين ومحاولتنا المستمرة لردم الهوة بين الألم الذاتي والواقع المعاش تناقش تأثير المجتمع على هويتنا وطريقة تعاملنا مع الآخرين وتأثير الأسرة على الفرد والأخطاء التي تشبه الرصاصة التي تطلق ولا ترد كيف نتشكل بالحزن و الكابة أو اللامبالاة . و القسوة لاننا لسنا ما نحن عليه لأن بل نحن صنيعة الآخرين وقسوتهم جوزيف ضد الثورة نتيجة الخيبات التي رأها في محاولات إصلاح البلد مثل ربيع دمشق وانتفاضة أكراد. قامشلي وأحداث حماة أما جيان فهي ثورية ومؤيدة للثورة لأنها تريد أن تعلم عنها الخنوع والخضوع وتسعى للتحرير من خوفها وأن تجعل لنفسها هدفا يبعدها عن الكابة متوغلة فيها تركز الرواية على أن كل ما يحدث حولنا سواء ضمن العائلة أو المجتمع ،يشكلنا بطريقته ويجعلناا أسرى المحاولة الخروج من واقع فرض علينا وجعلنا صورة مشوهة لما تريد أن تكون عليه .تتناول الواقع القاسي وضرورة التعامل معه والداخل الهش المكثف في حيوات الشخصيات الموجودة فيه. تنتهي الرواية بتحرير سوريا وصراع العودة أو عدمها .
