شاعر مصري، ولد بمدينة دمياط في 12 نوفمبر 1960م التحق بقسم الصحافة بكلية الآداب بسوهاج – جامعة أسيوط، وتخرج فيها في مايو 1983.
انضم إلى جريدة الأهرام في 1 من يناير 1985م ليعمل في قسم الأخبار، وفي 18 من فبراير 1995 صدرت مجلة "نصف الدنيا" الأسبوعية ليتولى مهام سكرتير تحرير المجلة، ثم نائباً لرئيس التحرير في مايو 2000.
من أعماله: 1.

يدخلُ أحمد الشَّهاوي في كتابه "ما أنا فيه"
تجربةً جديدةً وصعبةً ومُغامرةً ومُربكةً،
حيثُ الصمتُ فيها أبلغُ وأكثرُ من الكلام،
وحيثُ حريةُ الرُّوح أعلى في الكشْفِ والهتْكِ
والاعتراف، إذْ يتركُ الرُّوح -التي تُقَاتلُ عَدُوًّا
في الخيال- تكتبُ أحوا اَهل، وتُسْمِعُ أصوا اَهت،
وتُنْشِدُ هواجسَها، وتنشرُ حِسَّها وحدْسَها،
فالرُّوح تتكلَّمُ بلا انقطاعٍ، في لغةٍ قريبةٍ وحميمةٍ،
تمزجُ بين بُكاء النشيج ومتْنِ الحكمة.
ومنذ بساطة العنوان وسُهولته، وحتى السَّطرِ
الأخيرِ في الكتابِ أنتَ أمام تحدِّى التواصلِ،
والقُدرةِ على كتابةِ النارِ التي تحرقُ القلبَ
والعقلَ، بوعيٍّ معرُوفٍ لدى الشَّاعر بجُذُورِ
تراثه العربي والإسلامي، كأنهُ يعيدُ تركيبَ العالم عبر تدفُّقٍ واضحٍ للوعي واللاوعي معًا.
