وتأتي هذه المجموعة لتبسط بعض حالات الحلم الذي يتشكل هدفا أو رؤيا أو خلاصا أو حتمية قدرية، حيث يكون الحلم ضروريا وحبلا يمسك به عبر عتمة الحياة.
ففي القصة الأولى التي اخذت المجموعة اسمها منه، فإن المرأة التي أنهكتها رغبة الإنجاب، قفزت عن الواقع إلى الأمام وراحت تشتري لأبن تحلم به تخيلته ليلة العيد قطارا وبدلة سموكن، أما الحاجة ربحية فقد ظل الحلم معها عشرين سنة يصلب كفاحها وحيدة في الحياة وهي تنتظر الدولارات من ابنها الذي لا تعلم انه توفي في المهجر، أما ذاك السجين الذي امضى ربع قرن أسيرا في سجون الاحتلال يحلم بالخروج، وحين أخرجته اتفاقيات أوسلو، وضعته السلطة مديرا لسجن سوف تبنيه، أما ذاك الفتى الذي لا يدري كيف يظفر بحبيبته زوجة له، ووالدها الذي يشترط في زوج ابنته شهادة جامعية دفعه لتقديم الثانوية، لعله يلتحق بالجامعة، لكنه لم ينلها زوجة إنما وجد نفسه مقبولا في الجامعة ويختط له مستقبلا غير متجر أبيها، وأيضا موظفة البريد في نابلس حيث وجدت نفسها في عمان بعد الخامس من حزيران وحيدة لا ملجأ لها إلا الرجل الذي كانت تكرهه اشد الكره، وتتزوج به.
على هذا النمط من البناء القصصي تقوم بقية القصص، على فكرة مهمة تراها الشخصية ملهمة للسعي والاندفاع في هذه الحياة، لكن النتائج تكون مختلفة ومتباينة حسب قدرات الشخصية والظروف المحيطة، ولكن الفكرة التي يستنتجها القارئ مختلفة تماما عما استنتجته الشخصية القصصية.
