لكن مدينته صدمته منذ وطىء بقدمه أرضها, ازدادت العمارات علواً, وانتصبت الشوارع والساحات, وتضاعف عدد حملة الشهادات العليا, وزرعت الأسواق في كل مكان, لكن المدينة بقيت هي نفسها منذ ثمانية أعوام, تملأ أرصفة شوارعها فتيات ونساء شبه عاريات, أو تلفحن بالسواد من أخمص القدم إلى الرأس, وقد استجبن لنداء العولمة بالشراء والاستهلاك. ليست التقاليد على هذه الصورة القاتمة يا سيدتي- إنها كالفطور, منها ما هو مفيد ومنها ما هو سام, علينا نحن أن نميز الصالح لعصرنا ونهمل السام المعيق لحياتنا, دعينا نسمي التقاليد (السلوك), أما الخطيئة الأولى فلا أعتقد أن الرب كان مهتماً بتفاحاته أكثر من اهتمامه بأبنائه, لكنه شاء أن يعمر الأرض بالحياة والحب.
