يعرض كتاب "لقد عُدت" (Voltei) التجربة الروحية للأخ جاكوب (وهو اسم مستعار لفريدريكو فينييه) بعد وفاته وانتقاله إلى العالم الآخر، حيث يصف بدقة اللحظات الأولى من الانفصال عن الجسد والصدمات التي واجهها. يتناول الكتاب رحلة الروح في اكتشاف أن "الموت" لا يغير جوهر الإنسان، بل يضعه في مواجهة صريحة مع أفكاره وأعماله السابقة دون أقنعة. يركز النص على أهمية التطور الأخلاقي، موضحاً أن العمل الخيري في الدنيا ليس كافياً إذا لم يصاحبه إصلاح داخلي حقيقي وتواضع عميق.
