في هذِهِ القِصةِ المُثِيرةِ يَطرُقُ المُؤلِّفُ أبوابَ عالَمٍ غيرِ عالَمِنا، وأرضٍ غَيرِ أرضِنا، يَصِفُها بأرضِ الأَحْلام. يَروِي لنا قِصةَ يومٍ واحدٍ مِنَ الأيامِ التي سيَحْياها الناسُ في عامِ ٢٨٨٩؛ فيُصوِّرُ لَنا كيفَ سيَألَفُ الناسُ عالَمًا أصبحَتْ فِيهِ العَجائِبُ أمورًا عادِيَّة، مِن كَثرَتِها وتَواتُرِها. يُحدِّثُنا عَن مُخترَعاتٍ سيَتمكَّنُ العقلُ البَشريُّ مِن ابْتِكارِها، وكيفَ ستُغيِّرُ وَجهَ البَسِيطة، وعَن طَبِيعةِ العلاقاتِ بَينَ الناسِ في ذلِكَ العالَمِ المُستقبَلِي، ويُطلِعُنا على جانِبٍ مِنَ التَّجارِبِ المُذهِلةِ التي تُجرَى في ذلِكَ العالَم، مِثلِ تَجرِبةِ إِحياءِ المَوْتى. إنَّها قِصةٌ مَلِيئةٌ بالإثارةِ عَن عالَمٍ لَم يَحِن أوانُه بَعدُ.
