Book Description
اشتقت كلمة الإحصاء من اللفظ اللاتيني " ستاتوس – Status" بمعنى الدولة. وقد استعمل علم الإحصاء قديما استعمالات مبكرة تضمنت تجميع البيانات والتخطيط ووصف مظاهرة متعددة للدولة.
في عام 1662 قام العالم " جون جرونت " بنشر معلومات إحصائية حول المواليد والوفيات، ثم تلي عمل جرونت بكثير من الدراسات حول الوفيات ونسب ومعدلات الأمراض وأحجام السكان والدخول ونسب البطالة.
تعتمد المجتمعات الكبيرة والحكومات على الدراسات الإحصائية كموجه أو مرشد في عمليات الدراسة وأخذ قرارات مستقبلية معينة وإصدار توجيهات خاصة ببعض المشاكل على سبيل المثال، تقدير حجم البطالة وتقدير حجم التضخم ومعدلات المواليد والوفيات وأسباب الضعف في العملية التعليمية والاقتصادية والعلمية والهندسية والصناعية والزراعية.
الإحصاء لا غنى عنه لأي باحث في شتى المجالات المختلفة إذ اعتمد في بحثه على الأسلوب العلمي. أي أن الإحصاء هو عصا الباحث التي تقوده إلى الطريق الصحيح، وهي الأداة التي تساعده على تفسير الظواهر التي يدرسها وتوضيح النتائج التي يحصل عليها ودلالات البيانات والأرقام التي يحصل عليها.
نتمنى ان يكون هذا الكتاب إضافة متواضعة الى المكتبة العربية، كتابا منهجيا لجميع الطلبة الذين يدرسون مادة الإحصاء.
