يعيش البطل في عزلة ورتابة قاتلة داخل مدينة كبيرة تشعره بالموت البطيء.يقوده المطر ذات ليلة إلى مكتبة صغيرة هربا من وحدته وصمت شقته.يلتقي هناك بامرأة هادئة بجانب النافذة تفصلها قطرات المطر عن صخب العالم.تتكرر لقاءاتهما وينشأ بينهما حوار فلسفي عميق يلامس أوجاعهما العميقة.تلهمه المرأة بكلماتها لمواجهة داخله والبحث عن نفسه في أعماق صدره.تختفي المرأة فجأة وتترك له رسالة تخبره فيها أنها عاشت نفس ضياعه.توضح له بالرسالة أن بعض البشر يمرون بحياتنا لإعادتنا إلى الطريق فقط.ينتهي النص بوقوف البطل أمام مرآته معلنا بداية وعي جديد وحياة مختلفة.
