قصة غريبة عن رجل في قارب يظهر بشكلٍ مفاجئ في الليل في وسط المحيط الهادئ، بجوار مركب شراعي طالبًا إمداده بالطعام ورافضًا بشدة الاقتراب من المركب. يضعوا له بعض المؤن في صندوق ويلقوه في الماء بخطاف حتى يصل إليه، ثم يعود إلى جزيرةٍ قريبة حيث تتضور خطيبته من الجوع. وبعد ساعاتٍ قليلة، يعود ويسرد لهم حكاية مرعبة لا تُصدَّق.
