تتحدث الرواية عن شيطان قلعة صيرة والذي يحمل فلسفة خاصة ذات بعد فكري، يرفض من خلالها تسميتهم الشياطين بحيث يرى أن البشرية هم الشياطين الحقيقين، وتبدأ القصة حينما يشاهد بأم عينيه جريمة مروعة ارتكبها ثلاثة لصوص في منزل قديم بمنطقة صيرة في مدينة عدن، حيث يشاهد الرعب والظلم والقتل العشوائي الهستيري، في تلك الأثناء يوثق عهدا بالدم مع أب الأسرة بجعل البيت رعبا لكل من يقترب منه ويحاول دخوله، ويكتب بالدم عبارة على بابه: ممنوع الدخول والمخالفون يندمون ثم تبدأ القصة بظهور شباب من مديرية صيرة يرغبون بدخول البيت لتبدأ بعدها الأحداث الدرامية والمرعبة والتي تقود لأمور وتطورات خطيرة على المدينة وأهلها
