رواية قصيرة تحكي عن فتاة تعيش وحيدة ، فاقدة العقل الا من ذكرياتها القديمة ، في بيت يكاد يكون مهجور بعد ان مات الاب والام وتزوج الاخ والاخت وتركا البيت ... وهي في حالة مخاض تحمل سفاحاً بفعل احدهم بعدما انتهك عذريتها وتسبب في حملها ... زمن الرواية يدور مع بدء العدوان على العراق عام 1991 ، وما بعده من حصار ومعاناة ، ونجاة الحامل التي على وشك المخاض تعاني من الم المخاض ولا احد الى جانبها .... ما تلبث ان تتمخض لتترك السفاح الوليد يملأ الليل بالصراخ لتذهب الى النهر القريب فتدخله لتعيش في قراره مع مخلوقات الاعماق ... تجري احداث الرواية من وقت الغروب حتى فجر اليوم التالي .
