"ديوان الوفاء" للدكتور "عفيف حاطوم" يضم (187) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الموزون.
ما يميز "حاطوم" عن غيره من الشعراء هو إكتشافه، أوزاناً أخرآ "تساعد الشاعر على طرق شتى المعاني التي يتناولها في شعره من غير أن تجبره على التقيد تقيداً أعمى بالأسس والقواعد والأحكام التي تضعها لكل وزن من الأوزان...". لهذا فشاعرنا يريد ترك الحرية الكاملة للشاعر لكي يعبر عما يجول في صدره من المشاعر والأحاسيس الرقيقة وعما يخطر في ذهنه من صور وأفكار شرط أن يحافظ من بعد ذلك كله على عنصراً أساسي في شعره وهو عنصر الموسيقى، فأذن القارئ برأيه لا تسمح بدخول الشعر إلى قلبه أو فكره إلا حينما ترى ألفاظه ومقاطعه متسمة كلها بسمة الجرس الموسيقي.
يقول في قصيدة بعنوان [رغبة]: "رغبة الإنسان إنجاب العيال، ما مصير الناس إلا للزوال/ بعد موت الجد ما إبن يبالي، بجدود اختفوا مثل الخيال/ إرتقى الإنسان لكن في المجاهل، ما يعيش الرغد في ظل التنابل/ في صباح العيد يمشي للمعامل، كونه في العيد عن فلسين سائل".
