وفي هذا الكتاب شرح لديوان "الأعشى الكبير" ميمون بن قيس جمعه الدكتور "محمد أحمد قاسم" متبعاً في شرحه للأبيات طريقة الشرح القاموسي للألفاظ التي يستغلق فهمها على القارئ ومن ثم يحاول شرح المعنى الإجمالي للبيت. ولأهمية الفهارس عني مؤلف الدراسة بتذييلها بمجموعة من الفهارس للقصائد تعين رقم القصيدة وبحرها وراويها وعدد أبياتها وموقعها في الديوان، وأخرى للقبائل والأعلام وأيام العرب والأماكن واللغة وبثبت لمصادر الشرح ومراجعة ليأتي العمل شاملاً ومفيداً.
