محمد كامل حجاج: كاتبٌ مصري، عمل بالمحاكم المختلطة شطرًا كبيرًا من حياته. تمتَّعَ بذوق رفيع؛ حيث كان له هوًى برعاية الأزهار النادرة، والموسيقى الشرقية. أجاد اللغة الفرنسية، وله عددٌ من الكتب منها: «الموسيقى الشرقية ماضيها وحاضرها ونموها في المستقبل»، و«بلاغة العرب»، و«نباتات الزينة العشبية»، و«خواطر الخيال وإملاء الوجدان». تُوفِّي عامَ ١٩٤٣م.

الأَدبُ والفَنُّ هُما مِرآةُ نَهضةِ الأُممِ في مُختلِفِ العُصُور، والأَديبُ الأَريبُ هُو مَن يَملِكُ مِنَ الحِسِّ ويَقَظةِ الحَواسِّ وحَساسيةِ الذَّائِقةِ ما يُعِينُه على تَمثِيلِ اللَّحظةِ التي يَحْياهَا، نَقدِها وتَقوِيمِها، ورُبما نَحْتِها وصِناعَتِها، فَضلًا عن إِمْعانِ النَّظرِ في اللَّحظةِ السَّابِقة، واسْتِشرافِ اللَّاحِقة. وفي خَواطِرِه التي أَلهَمَه إِيَّاها خَيالُه الخِصْب، وأَملَتْه بَيانَها فُيوضاتُ وِجدَانِه، يُقدِّم لنا «محمد كامل حجاج» على مَائِدةٍ عَامِرةٍ بمُختلِفِ الطُّعومِ والمَوادِّ باقةً مِنَ الخَواطِرِ والتَّأمُّلاتِ مُتعدِّدةَ المَوضُوعَات، وعُرُوضًا لِطائِفةٍ مِن قضايا الأَدبِ والنَّقدِ في القَرنِ التَّاسعَ عَشَرَ وحتى بِدايَاتِ القَرنِ العِشرينَ المِيلادِي، وكَذلِكَ نَظراتٍ في المُوسِيقى والفَلسَفة، وقَبساتٍ مِن أَنجَعِ الأَعْمالِ الأَدبِيةِ شِعريَّةً كَانتْ أو نَثريَّة، والنِّتاجاتِ الفَنيَّةَ والمُوسِيقيَّةَ التي أثْرَتْ إنسانَ زَمانِها، وعَظُمَ أَثرُها فَامتدَّ إلى زَمانِنا.
