عاد الملازم هيرو انودا الى اليابان يوم 12 – آذار - 1974 حيث استقبل كجنرال مظفر وأصبح بطلا من أبطال اليابان وجزء من تاريخها
في نفس العام صدر لانودا كتاب بعنوان لا استسلام – حربي لمدة 30 عاما وباللغة الانجليزية
