قاص وروائي مصري من مواليد الأقصر٬ مصر٬عام 1967. يعمل محررا لمجلة الثقافة الجديدة. فاز بالجائزة الأولى في مسابقة صحافية (أخبار الأدب) للقصة القصيرة٬ على مستوى الوطن العربي٬ عن قصة "عجلات عربة الكارو الأربعة". صدر له ثلاث مجموعات قصصية وروايتان: "الصنم" (1999) و"منافي الرب" (2013) وقد ترشحت منافى الرب لجائزة البوكر و ايضا صدرت له رواية "إنحراف حاد"

كان الميكروباص الذي يتجاوزونه على يمينه، وفيه رجل يجلس هناك فى نفس موقعه هنا، شبهه تماماً، ينظر إليه باندهاش كان الأمر أضخم من جبل، أوسع من سماء، أعمق من محيط،أكبر كثيرا من أن يتحمله عقله، فتصرف بغتة، حيث ابتسم فى وجه شبيهه، ولوح له ببلاهة الرواية فلسفية تارة تشعر أنه يهين كل الأديان ولا يرى دين سوى دين العقل وتارة تعتقد أن يرى الأديان كلها كيان واحد يكمل كل منه الآخر وعلى الإنسان أن يعمل عقله ويتفكر حتى يصل إلى الإيمان والسلام الداخلي والقناعة ورغم تلك المحاولة الفلسفية البائسة التي دخلت طور لم يكتمل، إلا أنه استطاع أن يعبث بعقلك ويحرك تفكيرك الراقد ويسلط الضوء على تلك الزعزعة التي توجد بداخل كل منا تجاه حكمة ربانية أو فرض ديني لا يفهم حكمته كيف تهز تلك الزعزعة الإيمان، وكيف أن الفقر والتشرد والشقاء من شأنه أن يزعزع أيضًا إيمان الإنسان بالرحمة الإلهية
